Kybella in Miami

In today’s society, people are more self-conscious about their appearance than ever. For this reason, the field of cosmetic surgery has developed considerably in the last 20 years, giving people the opportunity to achieve their aesthetic ideals and reverse the process of aging.

Cosmetic surgery seems to have solutions to almost everything, from lines and wrinkles to problems such as a double chin. According to a survey conducted by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), more than 47% of people admitted that they are bothered by the appearance of their double chin.

In order to combat the issue of double chins, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved a type of dermatologic surgery called Kybella injections. If you are interested in applying for Kybella Miami treatment, we prepared an overview of the procedure that will help you with your decision. What is submental fullness?

Most commonly known as “double chin,” submental fullness is a prevalent but under-treated facial cosmetic problem. It affects both men and women and is caused by various factors, including age, heredity, and weight gain. It is typically resistant to diet and exercise alone, in which case many people resort to cosmetic procedures such as Kybella injections for getting rid of subcutaneous fat.

What is Kybella?

First released in April 2015, Kybella is a non-surgical injectable treatment used for treating submental fullness, also known as a double chin. A series of deoxycholic acid injections are used to target the fat cells in this location.

In most situations, no incisions are necessary, and recovery time is short. When injected into tissue, it damages the cell membrane, and when injected into submental fat, it eliminates excess fat cells.

Currently, Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys extra fat under the chin. This is the first and only FDA-authorized injectable therapy to alleviate the look of submental fullness caused by the fat beneath the chin.

Who is eligible for Kybella treatments?

In order to become a candidate for Kybella treatment, there are a couple of conditions you need to meet that we will clarify when you meet one of our board-certified physicians.

The people who are eligible for a Kybella double chin treatment are people 18 years or older who have a double chin and do not suffer from any type of infection in the neck area.

You are not a suitable candidate if you’ve had or plan to have facial surgery, have difficulty swallowing, are pregnant or nursing, or have a disease or medical condition in or near the suggested injection site.

How to prepare for a Kybella treatment?

Before the treatment, it is important to talk about your medical history with your doctor to learn if you are a good candidate. Kybella requires less preparation because it is a non-surgical procedure, but it’s best to schedule it far ahead of any important occasions. Avoiding ibuprofen and acetaminophen will help prevent post-treatment bruising, and thoroughly washing your face before the visit can help lower the chance of infection.

How does it work?

Kybella is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that assists in the digestion and absorption of dietary fat.

When injected beneath the chin, the solution destroys the targeted fat cells and reduces the appearance of a double chin. It causes fat cells to be destroyed when injected into the dietary fat beneath the skin. Because the chin fat is removed, the results are permanent. There is no need for general anesthesia or recovery time because there is no additional danger. If you want to have a Kybella treatment in Miami, contact Vida & Co to learn more!

How long does it last?

The procedure usually takes about 20 minutes. Kybella is injected into the fat beneath the chin over the course of a month in a series of procedures. While most patients require two to four therapy sessions separated by one month, you may require fewer or more treatment sessions to get the best results. Despite repeated therapy sessions, some patients may not improve and need to find an alternative for their double chin problem.

Kybella Aftercare

One of the many advantages of Kybella is that it requires no downtime or recovery period. You can resume your normal lifestyle immediately after your injections. After the surgery, you should notice results in 6 to 8 weeks. You’ll notice your chin skin tightening and a reduction in the appearance of a double chin.

Kybella has a long-lasting impact, but if you gain a lot of weight, that region of your chin may regain some fat.

While the destroyed fat cells do not regenerate, the remaining cells can get bigger; therefore you must maintain a steady and healthy weight following your Kybella treatments to avoid new pockets of fat accumulating.

What are the risks and after-effects?

Some of the most common side-effects of Kybella injections include:

  • Swelling
  • Pain
  • Numbness
  • Redness
  • Skin inflammation in the treatment area

However, Kybella injections can have more serious side effects such as:

  • Nerve injury in the jaw
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Bruising
  • Hair loss

How much does Kybella cost?

On average, each Kybella treatment costs between $1,200 and $1,800. The overall cost is determined by the number of treatments required, the fees charged by your healthcare provider, and your geographic area.

Since it is a cosmetic procedure, Kybella is not covered by insurance.

FAQs about Kybella Treatment

Until recently, eliminating excess fat from behind the chin necessitated surgery. The notion of going through this painful treatment and recovering for a long period was unappealing to most people. But when it comes to Kybella, the pain during the procedure is mild and similar to a sting.

The Kybella treatment destroys the chin fat, so it won’t come back in the treated location. However, it might come back in another place. If you gain weight, the fat may return in your neck after Kybella, which might look strange. This can also happen with liposuction.

Kybella usually requires no further treatment since the cells can no longer store or develop fat after they have been eliminated, so you won’t need any further treatment after you’ve achieved your aesthetic goal.

Kybella is usually risk-free and is the only chin injection that is FDA-approved. The operation has a slight risk of nerve injury, which might result in a crooked grin or swallowing difficulties. The majority of the time, the harm is only temporary.
